What is Astropledge?

Cyberattacks toward space assets have been going on for ages and have recently ramped up dramatically.

After years of research, at Bitrezus, we realized that most of the current satellite systems, either do not integrate security at all or run outdated security techniques, making current satellites vulnerable to hacking.

Existing cybersecurity solutions rely on terrestrial stations becoming a single point of failure and performance bottleneck, and are hardly scalable due to their centralized nature.

The recent rise in satellites, rockets and space shuttles, which is creating an expanded attack surface, requires a different approach.

On top of that, when we learned that a cyber-attack on the Global Positioning System alone could cost the U.S. $1 billion a day, the answer was clear.

We had to come up with a cybersecurity solution that leverages the latest technology available, and that is able to be widely adopted and implemented by both the big players and the vastly increasing number of spacetech startups.

This is how Astropledge was born.

Astropledge reduces the risk of cyberattacks against space assets, using a combination of embedded H/W and blockchain technology to create an extra level of security.

It enables critical opcode consensus ​in real-time, among untrusted partners, for resilient and cyber-proof operation ​of space and ground infrastructure. Very importantly, it is satellite type/manufacturer agnostic.

Astropledge is targeted towards the satellite manufacturing segment (upstream) and the satellite services, including ground operations. Our focus is currently the EU, with the European space industry being the second largest in the world, estimated to be worth €53-62 billion.

Astropledge’s vision is to become the go-to solution for space cybersecurity.
